Things to Consider When Purchasing a Monument

If you are planning ahead or purchasing for one who has passed, keep in mind some things you will need to know:

  • Does your cemetery allow the type of monument you desire?  Some cemeteries or better known as Memorial Gardens will not accept any marker that does not lay flat.
  • When price shopping, is the monument dealer including all fees like foundations, additional line inscription, or emblems on the monument?  Ask about any hidden or costs or fees.
  • Ask where the granite comes from good granite comes from the middle and inner layers of a quarry.  They should be free from oxidation and any environmental hazards.
  • Avoid places that offer big discounts or rebates.  They may not be a great bargain after all.  Somebody has to pay for it.
