Mrs. Alice J. Hartmann, 74, of Churchill Street, Little Falls, NY, passed away on September 20, 2024, at home after being diagnosed with inoperable cancer.

She was born on April 4, 1950, in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of Leonard and Marion Fort Shaffer.

Alice graduated from Little Falls High School, class of 1968, and then went on to Crouse-Irving Nursing School, where she graduated in 1971.

Following graduation from Crouse Irving, she and her then-husband moved to Star Lake, where she was employed as a staff nurse at Clifton-Fine Hospital until 1974. Then, she returned to her home in Little Falls, where she was employed as an RN/Nurse Manager by the then-Little Falls Hospital until her "retirement" in 1995. During her tenure at Little Falls, she also served as a radio dispatcher, nights and weekends, for the DEC's Forest Rangers in the western and southern Adirondacks.

She was of Methodist faith and enjoyed reading, camping, and her grandchildren.

On August 4, 1979, she married Paul T. Hartmann.

She is survived by her husband, Paul T. Hartmann; their son, Scott Michael and his wife, Kari; her brother, Charles Shaffer, and his wife, Betty; two cousins residing in the city; Patricia Gressler and her husband, Jeff, and Joanne and Will Morotti.

Upon Marriage to Paul, she gained four stepchildren and seven grandchildren: Barbara Anne Buchanan, Paul Hartmann, Jr., Thomas Hartmann, and Peter C. Hartmann; the seven grandchildren: Megan Hailey Hartmann, Ian Tuthill, Sara Tuthill, Andrew Hartmann, Curtis Hartmann, Caleb Hartmann, and Kennedy Hartmann.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, at Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365. A Memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM.
