Clayton
Baumes, Jr.
Dec 19, 1948 — Jun 3, 2026
Mr. Clayton Baumes, Jr., 77, of State Highway 29, Dolgeville, NY, passed away at home following a brief battle with cancer.
Clayton was born in Brooklyn, NY, on December 19, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Clayton C. Baumes, Sr., and Elizabeth Boechlin Baumes.
He was educated in Brooklyn and West Canada Valley schools.
Most recently, he had worked at Burrows Paper Mill, now known as Twin Rivers, as a chemical mixer. Before that, he had worked at Snyders making bicycles, where, after work, while waiting for his daily ride home, he met his wife, Lena Mosher, who was also waiting for her ride home.
On January 21, 1967, on the bride's birthday, they were married at the Dolgeville United Methodist Church by Rev. Barber. Together, they shared 59 years of marriage.
In his spare time, he liked building model trains, RC tanks, planes, and helicopters. However, nothing meant more to him than spending time with his wife and family.
Survivors include his wife, his children, Trena Mason, Craig Baumes, and Adam (Maggie) Baumes; 2 grandchildren, Crystal and Brandi; and many great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will take place at Rural Park Cemetery in Inghams Mills, at a later date, with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365.
