NORFOLK, Va. a�" Jean R. Halladay, 79, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012, in Norfolk Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. She was born in 1932 to the late Walter and Laura Halladay in New York. She obtained her PhD in English and taught for Old Dominion University and retired after 30 years of service. Ms. Halladay was a member of the St. Paul Universalist Church in Little Falls, New York. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Merton Halladay; two cousins, Lynn and Dale Ford; a nephew, Caleb Carson; and a niece, Tanya Carson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Laura. All services will be private and Ms. Halladay will be laid to rest in a family plot in Newport, New York in the spring. Local arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc.
