Mr. John Downs, Jr. of St. Johnsville, NY passed away on March 5th, 2025 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home.

John was born in Herkimer, NY on September 10, 1944, the son of John Downs, Sr., and Hazel Bruce.

He attended country schools in Starkville.

For most of his life, he worked in the maintenance field, while locally working at the former Luxuary Mill in Fort Plain. When he lived in the south he worked for a hotel chain doing the same.

When he was younger he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, something he taught to his son.

He was predeceased by his daughter Tammy, son John, and a second son also named John.

Survivors include his wife of over 55 years, Jane Downs; daughter Sally Downs; grandson Zachary Maisouve; granddaughter Summer Downs; 1 great-grandson; and his brother James Downs.

All services will be held at the convenience of the family, and are under the care and direction of Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365.
