Obituary

Mrs. Lillian A. Barnes, 94, of Salisbury Center, NY, died May 19, 2025, in Little Falls, NY.


She was born on February 20, 1931, in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of George Holl and Iva Baum Holl.


She attended St.Johnsville Schools.


Mrs. Barnes loved being the owner and operator of Barnes Luncheonette in Salisbury Center, where people enjoyed her famous pies and homemade food, until she retired in 1993.


She lived her entire life in the local area, and enjoyed country music, watching pro wrestling on TV, comedy movies, eating out, the NY Yankees, and spending time with and entertaining her family.


She loved her cats and her little dog companion Babe that predeceased her.


She was the family Matriarch loved & respected by all.


On November 3, 1956, at the Ingham Mills Baptist Church, she married Reginald H. Barnes; he predeceased her on May 7, 2013.


Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Anna Barnes, brother James Holl, sister Crystal Schrader, brother in laws, sister in laws, and several nephews and a niece.


Survivors include her sons: Gary B. and his wife Tiffany Barnes of Salisbury, and Timothy A. and his wife Melissa Barnes of Salisbury NY; sister in law Marilyn Juba of Salisbury, NY; grandchildren Timothy A. Barnes, Jr. and his wife Sarah Barnes, Christopher Barnes, Stephanie Barnes-Sanchez, Melissa Bloodworth and her husband John Bloodworth, Chelsea Garnsey and her husband Andrew Garnsey, Shania Barnes, 13 great grandchildren Tyler Barnes, Sophia Barnes, Lucas Barnes, Jayden Barnes, Willfredo Sanchez, Jullian Sanchez, Maria Barnes, Conner Barnes, Gage Turner, Athena Turner, Alexis Turner; Neil and Jacob Garnsey and great great granddaughter, Artemus Anderson;  and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She had many special nieces and nephews both surviving and deceased.


The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 AM-12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Chapman-Moser Funeral home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365. A Funeral will follow immediately after at 12:00 noon, with burial taking place at Salisbury Rural Cemetery.
