EAST HERKIMER – Mary J. Darling, 70 of Main Road, East Herkimer, NY passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer where she had been a resident since October. She was born on September 15, 1946 in Little Falls, NY the daughter of the late Leonard and Doris (Shepard) Burdick. She was educated in Stratford Schools. An avid reader, she enjoyed doing puzzles, word searches and especially trips to the Casino. Mrs. Darling was employed for many years by former Daniel Green Co., Dolgeville and later ConMed, Utica. She was last employed as a Certified Nurse's Aide at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. She is survived by her sons, Raymond Darling, Dolgeville and Thomas Markwardt, Herkimer, her brother Lawrence Burdick and his wife Carol, Herkimer, her sisters, Beverly Cohen and her husband Arnold, Selkirk, NY, Jean Lamphere, Salisbury and Barbara Stoltz, Dolgeville, grandchildren, Ashley Darling and Michael Young and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Allison Darling on June 5, 2015. Graveside services will be held at a time and date to be announced at the Stratford Cemetery, Town of Salisbury in the spring. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the First Floor of Valley Health Services for the kindness, care a compassion shown to Mrs. Darling and her family.
