FORT PLAIN - Polly C. Suchy, 86 of 451 State Highway 163, Fort Plain passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 with her loving family at her side at the home of her daughter JoAnn Failing. She was born on February 15, 1922 in Ramsey, NJ the daughter of the late Nathan and Rachel (Stevens) Curtiss. She was educated in Ramsey, NJ and Little Falls Schools. She was united in marriage on June 6, 1942 to Donald C. Edmunds, he predeceased her on February 1, 1992. On October 4, 1970 she was united in marriage to Michael Suchy, he predeceased her on February 6, 1990. She was again united in marriage to Fred G. Scarano on July 5, 1997, Mr. Scarano predeceased her October 9, 2003. She was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls where she was active in the Church Womens Guild and was one of the founders of the Church Thrift Shop. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors Chapter # 5278, Newville, the Nowadaga Grange # 1298, Newville, the Auskerada-Maquaes-Rock City Chapter # 204, O.E.S, Dolgeville, the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula Post # 4612, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Little Falls and the Oswego Coin Club. Mrs. Suchy was employed over the years in various factories throughout the Mohawk Valley, she was last employed for over 10 years as a Tea Packer for Salada Foods, Corp., Little Falls. Following her retirement she enjoyed helping her grandson and granddaughter and their families in the operation of Vinnys Pizzeria, Herkimer. She is survived by her son Donald Curtiss Edmunds and his wife Laura, Little Falls, her daughter JoAnn Failing and her husband Charles, Fort Plain, a step son Michael Suchy and his wife Sandra, Gloversville, 6 grandchildren Todd and Robin Failing, Dr. Timothy and Mariella Failing, Valicity Ann and Zane Spaulding, Treika and Anthony Scarano, Anthony and Sherri Edmunds, James and Sharon Edmunds and Christopher Edmunds and Darcy, 20 great grandchildren,1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her extended family; her husband Freds children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Nathan S. Curtiss, 1982, 4 sisters Esther Curtiss, 1921, Nancy Phillips, 1984, Evalena Wright, 1993 and Ruth H. Darling, who passed away on September, 27, 2008 and by a grandson Joseph Turturo, who passed away earlier this month on December 4. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 7:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls with the Rev. Dr. Steven A Scarcia, Rector of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 from 4-7 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Suchy be considered to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 588 Albany St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. Members of the Auskerada-Maquaes-Rock City Chapter # 204, O.E.S will call in a body on Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm to conduct their services.
