Roger Charles Dunteman

October 21, 1936 - January 18, 2025

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Roger Charles Dunteman, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, on January 18, 2025, in Mission Viejo, California, at the age of 88.

Roger was born on October 21, 1936, in Little Falls, New York, to George Henry Dunteman and Bertha [Bollman] Dunteman. From an early age, he showed a love of sports and the outdoors. He attended Little Falls High School, where he played basketball and football, made lifelong friendships, and met the love of his life. Immediately following high school graduation in 1954, Roger enlisted in the United States

Marine Corps. He served proudly as a Field Artillery Sergeant in locations such as Okinawa, Japan, and Camp Pendleton, California, before he was honorably discharged in 1957.

After his military service, Roger headed back to New York to attend and play football for St. Lawrence University. After an injury ended his football career, Roger decided to leave college and the East Coast behind, heading out west to start a new life in Southern California. He spent time working as an ambulance driver before McDonnell Douglas Corporation hired him to work in the mailroom. From this humble beginning, Roger built a successful career in the aerospace industry that spanned over 39 years. During this time, held numerous high-level positions such as Director of Business Contracts for McDonnell Douglas's Delta Rocket Program and Boeing's International Space Station (ISS). Roger retired

from Boeing in 1998 but kept busy as a consultant for numerous companies in the defense industry. Despite his many accomplishments, he was most admired for his loyalty, integrity, and work ethic.

In 1960, Roger married his high school sweetheart, Shirliejune Farrell, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four children, instilling in them the values of love, perseverance, education, and family. Later in life, Roger found immeasurable happiness in his role as "Grandpa" to ten grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. His family was his

greatest accomplishment, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on, celebrate milestones, and share family traditions.

Those who knew Roger will remember his quiet strength, dedication to family, selflessness, and love of the outdoors (especially Duck Creek, Utah). He passed on his love of nature to his children and

grandchildren, creating cherished memories through countless camping trips, hunting and fishing expeditions, and walks to his cherished Aspen patch. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to

family that will live on forever in the many hearts he touched.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Shirliejune, his four children and their spouses, Roger (Jennifer),

Erin, Kurt (Angela), and Troy. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, Dillon, Hunter, Colvin, Kylie, Ashley, Katie, Madden, Reagan, Jack, Isabelle, and three step-grandchildren, Dylan, Brayden, and

Lauren. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bertha Dunteman, and his brother George H. Dunteman.

A graveside ceremony will be held on October 13, 2025, at 11:00 am at Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365.
